Dolphin Surfing The Red Cedar Sea
I’m trying my best, after years of building homes and growing to hate it, to start a business doing something I really love.
I've been a lover of marine life, all wildlife, and being in the water since I was a child, and have spent many, many hours in the salty water, some not so much fun, but I even swam with dolphins a few times down in the gulf and completely fell in love.
I'm huge on nature preservation and conservation. It would be nice to use my art to bring awareness to such things. As I grow and learn I will make more detailed and intricate pieces. I never really know what I will make next. I try to let my brain go and talk to the wood to see what it wants. If it ever talks back though, I will run and get a CT scan I promise.
The dolphin is my very first full sculpture. It's only 11 inches long and made of black walnut reclaimed barn wood. It sits on a base of red cedar that I chose because of the knot that looks like a wave. I really love doing these small things.
